The United Arab Emirates or UAE is an Arab country in the southeast of the Arabian Peninsula on the Persian Gulf. Neighbors include Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Iran. The UAE is a federation of seven emirates, each governed by a hereditary emir, with a single national president. The constituent emirates are Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm al-Quwain. The capital is Abu Dhabi, which is also the state's center of political, industrial, and cultural activities.
National DAY is celebrated on 2 December each year in the United Arab Emirates for two days or more. It marks the UAE's formal independence from the United Kingdom and the eventual unification of the seven emirates in 1971 which combined to form the modern-day country.
